A metal coating can be deposited on a substrate mainly in two ways: a chemical or electrochemical reduction. The electrochemical methods are preffered since by these methods a very well defined deposition is possible due to current control. In this scope the Ionic Liquids have great potential since they enable an electrodeposition of metals that cannot be obtained from aqueous solutions. Via electrochemical route various nanostructured metal deposits have been obtained in IL, e.g. Ag,1 Pt,2 Fe nanocrystal3 or CoPt nanorods.4 However, most interesting metals for industrial application are Al, Mg, Ti (More information). If you are interested in one of the innovative coating-technologies please This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
